What would you improve at your mining job?

Yeah, there's always room for improvement and I've definitely heard grumbling about different rates for the same work and last-minute changes to terms.
Perhaps there should be a standardized agreement that's clear from day one or at least we'd be in a position to also negotiate when changes come up.
It's only fair that if the terms shift, we have a say in it, rather than just being told what's happening.
I think it's also essential to have access to mental health resources and support that's tailored to our industry.
It's a tough job, not just physically but mentally too!

I agree with the point on clear agreements and mental health support, and I’d add that some Canadian operations have started joint committees where contractors and staff meet monthly to review pay equity and safety concerns, which has reduced disputes. Has your site ever tried a structured forum like that or is everything handled one‑on‑one with supervisors?

You've made some excellent points! I’d also like to highlight how crucial it is to maintain open communication channels and provide anonymous feedback options. These can help bring issues to light before they escalate into larger conflicts.
