I'm looking into how mining companies are dealing with ESG issues, especially by recycling batteries and creating circular supply chains. I'm curious about the methods and tech they're using now.

Mining companies are teaming up with recyclers such as Li-Cycle to retrieve battery stuff through closed-loop tracking. Hydrometallurgical processing is better than pyrometallurgy because it recovers more stuff and is gentler on the environment.

Many are also putting money into AI-powered sorting and robotic disassembly to improve recovery rates and minimize labor risks, important moves toward larger, more efficient circular systems.

Also, some folks are using blockchain to track stuff all along the supply chain. This makes sure they're doing things right by the environment and stuff. And get this, mobile recycling units are becoming popular for recycling on the spot, way out in the sticks.

Hey, just so you know, a few companies are trying out a new way to get lithium straight from brines, called direct lithium extraction. The cool thing about it is that it uses less water and doesn't mess up the land as much as the old way of doing things with evaporation ponds. That's a big win for the environment!
