You know how it goes those long days at the job site machines humming away and you’re just trying to keep your energy up. Packing the right lunch can really make a difference during your shift. Maybe you have a favorite meal that always satisfies or you just grab whatever’s quick before heading out.

So, what do you usually pack in your lunchbox for a 12-hour shift?

I usually just toss in a couple of sandwiches. I learned early on that keeping things easy saves time in the morning.

I often pack leftovers from supper usually rice and chicken. I started doing that after realizing that snacking on junk food during long shifts left me wiped, and homemade food keeps me going strong.

When I was a newbie, I'd grab whatever snacks I could find and call it good. After some awful 12-hour days, I switched to meal prep. So I now pack a thermos of chili, some fruit, and lots of water. Sure, it takes a bit of planning, but it keeps me energized and focused the whole time.
