If your machine's frame and main parts are in good shape and repairs cost less than 60% of buying new, a rebuild is a smart move. Go for new gear if you want a warranty, save on fuel, or meet emission rules. Don't forget to think about how much downtime will cost you.
@cavecrusader I think it's always the 50/50 rule, man. If the repair/rebuild cost is creeping over 50% of what a new machine costs, just buy the new one.
Otherwise, you're basically pouring good money into a frame that’s already been stressed for a decade. We did a full rebuild on our main LHD, and it felt like a brand new machine, but we kept the cost under 40%
Don't forget also to think about if you can get parts, tech support, and if the software works. Older machines might not get updates or be supported by the people who made them.
I think it always depends on your financial situation, man. Upgrading the old equipment has a lower cost than buying the new ones ofc. but if you have the money, buying new equipment is a good move
