Is mining becoming overly marketed?

I've been noticing a lot more lifestyle branding popping up in the mining world lately, like flashy logos, trendy merch, and influencer-style content. I get why it's appealing, but honestly, it feels like it's kind of taking away from the real essence of what mining is all about.

Let's be real: mining is tough work. It's demanding, it can be dangerous, and you truly have to earn your place in it. It's not something you just stroll into for the aesthetic. When folks dive in just because it seems cool but aren't ready for the grit, they often burn out pretty quickly. And then, of course, they end up blaming the industry for being 'toxic.'

Does anyone else feel like this? Am I way off base, or have you noticed the same thing? I'd love to hear your thoughts

There's someone who posted the same sentiment here a couple of days back and it's totally understandable!
I, for one, want to attract new talents and help the industry evolve but you're right to be concerned when our reality is misrepresented.
Mining isn't just a job, it's a demanding career that requires resilience, dedication, and a real understanding of the risks involved.
That mismatch between expectation and reality often leads to quick exits and, as you said, unfair criticisms of the industry.

You're spot on. Mining isn't just a trend, it's something you earn through grit, talent, and taking risks. Branding can be appealing, but it shouldn't overshadow the reality of the situation.
