My son just got an offer from Barrick corp. to head out to Turquoise Ridge, and we're trying to get the real scoop on the place.
This is his first big job, and we just know that it's an underground shaft operation about 50 miles from Winnemucca, and they run a joint venture with Newmont.

Does anyone know what the actual work culture is like there?
I’m assuming it’s a pretty wet mine given the area, but are there any other site-specific challenges he should be ready for?

Congrats to him, that’s an exciting first gig. I’ve heard it’s a fast-paced environment with solid training. Wet ground is pretty common, so having waterproof gear and a positive attitude will really help.

Nice opportunity! People say Turquoise Ridge can be tough but also very supportive.
Wet conditions, tight spaces, and long shifts are just part of the job, but the experience you gain there is invaluable.

That’s a great start for his career!
From what I’ve gathered, it’s all about safety, it’s busy, and it can get pretty wet and hot underground.
If he comes in eager to learn, he’ll fit right in.
