We need to start production on our new CAT6040 shovel before the official training next year. I'm looking for any shareable resources or guides on hydraulic shovel operating techniques suitable for our operators. Thanks!
Reach out to your Caterpillar dealer for interim operator training materials or simulator access. They often have pre-delivery training resources available. It’s also a good idea to see if experienced operators can help mentor the new crews. Running a 6040 without proper training can risk equipment damage and safety problems, so I highly recommend waiting for the official training.
@Ezra_ for general operating & safety guides, you can check the MSHA to get some recommended safe job procedures. you can find the pre operation checks, safe practices, and how to identify potential hazards in the work area
try checking out the official Caterpillar e-learning modules, general operating best practices, and the machine's operation and maintenance manual. you'll get information on the equipment's functionality and safe operation techniques
You've made some solid suggestions. The MSHA guides and Caterpillar’s training modules are fantastic starting points. Don’t hesitate to share any field-tested tips you have as well!
