I always peek at the filters first. A blocked one got me once. I was working on a site where the whole setup was acting up, and changing the filter fixed it right away. Now, I always glance at the filters before I do anything else saves me time and stress.

Check the fans and motors since they've caused issues for me before. One time, the fan wasn't even turning, and spotting that early saved me tons of work. So, I always start by making sure the motor’s running. It’s easy and it gets you going the right way.
