Hi, moving to Hervey Bay with my minelab 800. , not scared to go bush bashing and sleep in bush. Started looking for forgotten places around Gympie to go out for 2 to 3 days at a time. Prob start with camping ground and walk over very walked over areas to start. no experience. Will get my phosicking lic. As said, not scared to go deep in to forest alone with montana 750i and satelite phone. Fully self sufficent 30 kg pack. I gather there are a lot of no go zones. Do ppl break the law and go in to those places? i am not planning to, but just wondered.

I'm based in the US so I can't speak to the local rules in Queensland but I've done prospecting trips out west here and land access is always a big deal. In most places, crossing into restricted zones without permission can lead to fines or gear confiscation. If you're planning to camp and detect for a few days, it's worth double checking with local maps or ranger stations. Are there any public fossicking areas near Gympie that don't require special permits beyond the license?
