Monitoring electrical systems on continuous miners

I’ve been running a continuous miner, and I can’t stand dealing with arcing contactors, loose grounds, and cables that just don’t want to cooperate.

What kind of monitoring routines or quick checks do you use to catch those electrical issues before they escalate into smoke, downtime, or something even worse?
 
I kick off every shift with a quick stroll around the cables, checking the grounds and taking a whiff for that telltale 'hot electronics' scent. If anything seems off or smells funny, I jump on it right away.
 
Arcing drives me crazy too.
I keep an eye on the amps, feel for warm connectors, and listen for any crackling sounds.
A quick five-minute check is way better than spending an hour on repairs later.
 
I do a quick visual inspection, tug on the grounds, and use a thermal gun on any connections that seem suspect.
If I spot any heat spikes, I flag them before they turn into a full-blown smoke show.
 
Before I start up, I look for loose cables, corrosion, and warm spots, then monitor the voltage under load. If anything flickers or smells off, I hit the brakes and fix it before any downtime or drama kicks in.
