ideas for open pit crews shelters

Looking for ideas on some simple, mobile shelters or huts for our open pit crews (drilling, grade control, field mappers, pump crews, and so on).

We need something that can be easily dragged or wheeled to keep the rain and a bit of the heat off. Three closed sides would probably do the trick.

Back when I was at a big coal mine, every exploration rig had a pretty hefty, towable, skid-mounted hut.

Those were great. you know, they had a fold down table for lunch, a flat spot for prayers, and offered decent shelter from the elements.

Any thoughts on something similar?

That's a solid idea! Those old skid huts really did the trick, didn't they? If you're on the lookout for something simple and easy to move around, you might want to check out lightweight skid-mounted shelters or those towable fabric canopies with three sides, they can be super handy. I've also seen people use DRASH tents or big tarp setups on pipe frames, they work surprisingly well too

By the way, how is your crew planning to transport these? Are they moving everything by hand, using a truck, or maybe a loader? Knowing that could really help figure out if you need something tow-behind, drag-able, or even a pop-up option

You might want to check out skid mounted field shelters like the Harrier Mobile Field Shelter, they're towable from either end and come in diff sizes with good weather protection. Could be a great fit with a few tweaks for crew use!
