You’re in the middle of your shift, everything seems to be running smoothly, and then you hear that slight squeal or feel an unusual rub that makes you stop in your tracks. Before it leads to downtime, what are the early indicators, quick checks, or minor tweaks that can help you spot belt wear before it turns into a major issue?

That little squeal is definitely not nothing. I quickly scan for any glazing, check the tension, and ensure the belt is tracking straight. This way, I can catch issues before they turn into big problems.

When I hear that rubbing sound, I immediately shut things down and feel for any heat, cracks, or dust. A quick tension check and a glance at the pulley usually reveal if there’s some belt trouble brewing.

I keep an eye out for dust buildup, notice the smell of hot rubber, and check the tracking whenever I hear a squeak. Just five quick checks now can save me hours of downtime and a lot of frustration later.
