I'm trying to find commonly used French equivalents for some English mining terms, this is mainly for curiosity, fun and unavoidably some learning

Here are a few of the terms I'm trying to translate:
Ore body
Shaft
Drift
Stoping
Tailings

I'm okay with standard French terminology or even regional variations used in francophone mining operations. I'd really appreciate your input...a lot!

If you're just poking around with translations, gisement for ore body is the usual one. Shaft gets called puits. Drift = galerie, simple as that. Stoping doesn't have a neat word, usually abattage. Tailings are stériles. You'll hear variations, but those will get you understood.
