My brother is finishing up his mining degree in Korea next year and wants to go global, thinking Aus, Canada, or the US
For those working overseas, is it a massive hurdle to hire someone straight out of a Korean university? What's the best way for him to prepare his resume/skills now to make the move possible? Should he focus on getting local experience first?

Since work visas are a thing, most countries prefer to hire local grads for entry-level mining jobs. A good move would be to first shoot for multinational companies that operate in Korea. After getting 2-3 years of experience under your belt, you could ask for an internal transfer. This helps build your resume and makes getting a visa easier.

It's also a great idea to get really good at English, learn mining software such as Surpac or Vulcan, and get safety or project management certs that are known worldwide. That will really make your resume pop when you're applying for jobs overseas
