Anyone working underground at NGM?

I met someone at a career fair who said Nevada Gold Mines was expanding underground operations and looking for engineers. I've mostly worked with open-pit data during school, so I'm curious how different the underground side is in terms of planning and software. The job listing mentioned Vulcan and Deswik, which I've used a little, but I'm not sure how much training they provide once you're on site. I'd like to know if new hires in the mining industry get support or if you're expected to hit the ground running. Is the work culture more collaborative or split between departments?

I joined an underground crew in Arizona last year after mostly working with open-pit stuff in school too. It was a big change and Deswik became my main tool, and they gave good training when I started. We also got mentors to help us for the first few months, which made things easier.
People worked well together, especially between planning and operations. Lots to learn, but help was there when you needed it. Hope it's the same at Nevada Gold Mines!

This is exactly the kind of supportive environment I'm looking for. Since you've used the software for both, how steep was the learning curve adapting your open pit knowledge to the underground modules? Your feedback gives me more confidence to follow up on the opportunity.
