I'm wrapping up my mining engineering degree and I'm super excited because I've gotten internship offers from both Vale in Sudbury and Cameco at Rabbit Lake. The pay and tasks are pretty much on the same level, so now I'm stuck trying to figure out which company would be better for my future

If anyone here has worked with either of these places or knows what they're like, I'd love to hear your thoughts! How do they stack up when it comes to training, company culture, and chances for moving up the ladder?

Thanks a million for any insights you can share

Yeah yeah both of them are big names, but if you want better exposure and connections, Vale is better. I mean don't get me wrong, Cameco is great too, especially if you're into uranium and want a tight-knit environment while you're starting. Butttt I bet you'll have more from Vale.

Nice, congratulations on the offers!
Both Vale and Cameco are excellent choices but they offer different paths.
Vale provides broad exposure to diverse mining methods and large-scale operations.
Career progression is possibly global but it's a big company so it can also feel a bit slower.
Cameco, on the other hand, offers niche expertise in uranium like @The Scientist mentioned.
It's a camp-based, fly-in/fly-out operation, so consider that lifestyle.
Cameco focuses heavily on safety and offers good career development within its specialized field.
So I think it's a matter of whether you choose diverse experience and global potential, or a specialization in a unique commodity and a different lifestyle!

Mining is not a carreer, it's a mental and physical challenge that only the absolute best of the "grunts" survive or in which they thrive. Management would be well off to recognize that their success is from standing on the shoulders of the "Best of the best".
I agree with that tottaly I have a question I found a lot of metal that was left over from gold and silver refining some of it is still in the shape of the melting pots I know the metal came from the mines and I know it is from gold and silver refining and that more metals are locked up in it how do I get the precious metals out please reply me at 623 2190479 or [email protected] please and thankyou oh I've got about forty pounds of it
