After a long day of operating shovels in the pit, you might notice that the swing motor is heating up faster than you'd like.
Let’s share some tried-and-true tips, quick checks, and smart tricks to help cool it down
before it causes any issues or messes with your schedule.

Last summer after a grueling shift, my swing motor was hotter than my morning coffee.
I started keeping an eye on the oil levels, making sure the hoses were clear and giving it short breaks between those heavy swings.
It’s those little habits that save me from headaches and keep the machine running smoothly

I once burned out a motor by pushing it too hard during a long shift. Now, I’m careful to monitor the hydraulic temps, clean the strainers, and pace myself with the heavy swings. It helps keep the motor cool and my day from turning into a stressful marathon.

When I was working full shifts in the pit, the swing motor temps would rise quickly. A quick oil check, clearing out the filters, and letting the arm idle between loads made a world of difference. Smart monitoring keeps both the motor and my schedule on track.
