I could use a bit of clarity, does anyone know if the Kidde KVS 2025 vehicle fire suppression system is outdated? We've been asked to check the system on a drill rig, but there's not much info available online.

Tough luck finding specific model like that. The fluid and components can degrade over time and may not perform as expected. So even if the model itself is not considered outdated, the system on the drill rig might not be in a working condition. Check with a company that specializes in servicing these types of systems. They would have the proper documentation and certifications to determine if the system is still functional and if it needs to be serviced.

It's generally considered obsolete for new installations.
The main issue you'd run into is getting parts, especially controllers, cylinders and detection components.
They're either difficult to source or only available refurbished, and the wet chemical agent might be proprietary and hard to find for a full recharge.
If it's on a rig, you need to check its last certification date. If it's older than 10 years, or if you can't get current, certified agent and parts, you're better off recommending a full replacement with a current, supported wet chemical system that meets the latest standards for the drill rig's hazard area.
It's tough to service old gear, and fire suppression isn't something to take chances on!
