How far down till you hit pay dirt?

I was out digging last weekend and ended up going way deeper than I thought I would before I finally stumbled upon something worth keeping. It got me thinking about what’s normal for everyone else.

How deep have you had to dig before you hit pay dirt? I’d love to hear your stories I’m really curious to see how my digs stack up

There was this one time I was digging in a dry creek bed and I nearly gave up. But then just a few feet deeper I found some old nails and bits of metal. It really reminds me that patience often brings rewards.

Back when I was just starting out I hit the jackpot just a couple of feet down in a rocky area and pulled out a small fossil. Ever since that day I’ve been on the lookout for that same kind of luck
