Cooling fin cleaning methods

I can only imagine how much time you’ve put into cleaning those cooling fins to keep everything running cool in the mine.
What’s your go-to cleaning method?
Got any shortcuts that help you get it done faster without harming the fins?
Let’s trade some tips!

Before I use any air or brush, I like to vacuum up the loose dust with a nozzle. It’s saved me countless fin repairs after one job where I learned that blasting without thinking leads to bent, useless fins and a very unhappy foreman.

There was one rig with fins so caked that I thought I’d need a chisel to get them clean.
Instead, I soaked them lightly and brushed them while the engine cooled down.
It took a bit longer, but I managed to keep everything intact.
Sometimes, going old-school and getting hands-on is the quickest way to get the job done.

My go-to method? I start with a soft bristle brush, then follow up with a gentle blast of air.
Made the mistake of using a pressure washer years ago never again. Ended up with bent fins all over the place.
The lesson? Patience always wins over brute force in the mine.
