Checking for hydraulic hose rub spots

While I’m tucked under my rig, I’m inspecting the hoses and pondering if they’re rubbing where they shouldn’t.
What steps do you take to identify issues before they escalate into leaks or chaos?
I’d appreciate any inspection tips you can share.

the most common culprits are near the articulating joints or where the loader arms move
I cycle the hydraulics slowly through their full range of motion while watching from a safe distance. you’d be surprised how a hose that looks fine at rest can get pinched or stretched tight when the bucket is fully curled

It’s become second nature for me to shine a flashlight along the hoses and fittings, searching for any shiny metal or dust buildup it’s like a red flag. I learned this the hard way when a hose I forgot about rubbed against a bracket, cutting my shift short with a sudden high-pressure spray
