You know how each year seems to teach us something, whether it’s through tough experiences, easy wins, or those little reminders that hit just right? Maybe it was a shift in your mindset, a new habit you picked up, or just a crucial lesson you needed to learn.

This year showed me the value of taking it easy. I was always in a hurry to wrap up projects in the shop, and every time I rushed, something went wrong. Finally, I learned to be patient.

I've started the habit of cleaning my tools right after I use them. It might seem minor, but after losing an entire afternoon searching for a missing socket, it finally dawned on me. These little habits can really save a lot of frustration.

My biggest takeaway from 2025 was that preventative maintenance isn't optional
We pushed our fleet hard to meet production targets last year, and the downtime we paid for in Q3 and Q4 cost us double what the service would have
Carrying into 2026, I'm sticking to the 'fix it before it breaks' mindset. no matter how much the project manager complains about the schedule

Yeah, that's totally right. Doing some fixes before stuff breaks always seems like extra work, but man when things go down you really feel it. If we just remember that going into 2026, we'll save ourselves a ton of trouble.
