Automation in small-scale mines worth the investment?

It looks like automation is really gaining traction in larger operations, but is it actually feasible or cost-effective for smaller mines? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s experimented with remote monitoring, self-driving trucks, or data systems in smaller setups.

Even smaller ops are seeing the benefits of remote monitoring, especially since costs have plummeted lately. On the other hand, autonomous trucks require a hefty initial investment and a certain scale to make it worthwhile. A smarter move might be to begin with telematics and automated surveying drones, they’re much more affordable and offer quick ROI.

Drones and telematics are great points. I'd also say that automated drilling rigs and real-time maintenance tracking are becoming easier to get, and they're a good stepping stone before going all-in on full automation.
